Valentines play dough & play mats roundup for sensory play

02/09/17 | Valentines

play doughI’m sure you knew it was coming…we’ve put away our snowflake play dough, and it’s time for a little valentine play dough fun. If you’ve followed this blog long, you probably also know that my little ones love getting messy.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to kids getting messy? I’m pretty relaxed about it. I think it’s fun to squish and smush and sprinkle, so we do A LOT of that at our house. If you come to visit me without a warning, you better believe our home will be littered with toys and our table sticky with play dough and cookie crumbs. I’m trying to get better at having a daily cleaning routine and decluttering our home, but we won’t be stopping getting a little messy every day! It’s so fun! One of our favourite mediums is play dough, so this morning we cracked open the dough and I rounded up some fun Valentine’s Day themed play dough mats and some funky play dough recipes to go with them.

My little one has been very busy lately and it’s been all that I can do to stay ahead of her mess-making fingers and keep her busy with good activities instead of emptying the contents of my purse or the craft cupboards onto the floor.

I love simple activities like these  play dough mats because it only takes a few minutes for me to prep them and they are easily stored in between playtimes.

Please browse through, download/print your favourites, and pin this post for later so you can come back to it when you need new play dough mats for the kids in your life!

This is so cute. I didn’t know this even existed. I guess my kids are a little past play dough. Though, we did use some clay for one of our Holiday crafts and this would have come in handy for some ideas. (We do a holiday craft every year and make stuff for each other.)

A lot of great ideas!! My daughter loves play dough, so I know I need to try a few of these with her. She will love them. (Thanks for getting it all in one spot.)

I try to incorporate Valentines day for the whole family, especially when it is on a week day like this year. We all get together and celebrate love. Then the following Saturday my husband and I get a date night to celebrate. This way we all have some fun celebrating this fun holiday!

I loved play dough when I was young and my daughter did too! I wish I would have known about all of these wonderful recipes. I think the cotton candy recipe is my favorite! I think it would be fun to play with.

Sound like a whole lot of fun. My nephew really enjoys playing with playdough and using his fingers to create nice little things. I know he would like this.

Ha! We are home on snow day number two and I would love to whip up a batch for the boys! They haven’t played with stuff in years- it will be a blast!

I love the queen of hearts one! My niece is named Alice (after Alice in Wonderland). I’m gonna have to print that one for her next time she brings her mess-making fingers to my non-baby proofed house.
