Top ten “plans” for our summer

Top Ten plans for our summer

It’s summertime. The weather has been quite good here lately. Particularly last week, the weather was lovely. This week,  we’ve had some rain and enjoyed a rather loud thunderstorm. However, the weather is still good enough to be outside even if the rain brings the bugs. That’s why we have bug spray right?

I am really looking forward to this summer and if you recall from this post, we decided that we want this summer to be different.  I want the  kids to be able to look back and remember all the fun we had instead of looking at the items not crossed off our summer bucket list and be disappointed.  I thought today it would be fun to share my top ten “plans” for our summer.  I so wish you were here to see the “air quotes” I was doing when I was typing “Plans” because we all know what happens when you plan something. Absolutely nothing!

Am I right or am I right?

Anyways… here is what I am hoping will happen these next few months.

  1. Go on a Pembina River float–This is one of the items on last year’s bucket list that I couldn’t cross off then. We scouted out the location last year but never got the chance to get back with the kids but this summer Jessica is old enough and the weather man has been suggesting a warmer than usual summer.  *fingers crossed*
  2. Have a barbecue- down in the river valley with our MSC (mid sized community) to celebrate both my sons,  my daughters and my baptism.   Yes,  you read that right.   I am getting baptized.. Even though I was baptized as a baby and confirmed as a young adult it’s just something I feel like I have to do.
  3. Sit in the garden– I have been busy adding new plants to our garden and I am looking forward to kicking up my heals and sipping on something sweet.  The birds are always fun to watch as they play amongst the flowers and shrubs. Apparently they are excited for the upgraded garden as well.
  4. Go for walks –I hope to explore the woods by our house as well as in the river valley sometime this summer too. We went for a bike ride there  last summer and now that the kids are a little older we should be able to go farther.
  5. Spend time with family. We ran out of time and missed out on taking my nephew to the zoo.  The kids are growing fast and it won’t  w long before they are disappearing to hang out with their friends every single day so I’m going to enjoy these days with all of them at home.
  6. Do lots of reading. This was one of the things I didn’t do enough of last year, even though I could. This year, it’s loading up my kobo so that shouldn’t be hard!
  7. Write. I haven’t been blogging here as much as I’d like to this month or last month. After all, I’ve been feeling pretty uninspired. I hope to be inspired soon.
  8. Go Geocaching with my kids. I’m newer to the scene {read: the husband & I tried and failed four years ago on our anniversary trip to Tofino and we haven’t gone since } but, I have been thinking of giving it another go.  We never found our cache that day but, we have fond memories of stumbling upon a creepy abandoned campground, and we got a chance to explore places we wouldn’t have had a chance to explore so it is worth it.  I Can’t wait to see how well the kids do!  Besides, they aren’t like me and they have no problem scrambling under branches to see if the cache is hidden under the leaves.          Me…not so much!
  9. Take in another paint night… I don’t care if I have to go alone I just want to pick up a paint the brush and create. I had so much fun last time and I learned that as long as it’s not a baseboard or a wall I am painting I am honestly not that bad!
  10. Relax and unwind..I have been far to busy for far too long.  Saying yes when I really should have said no and committing myself to things that didn’t really make me happy and took time away from those I love and care about.

What are your plans for this summer?  I would love to hear about in the comments below.

The River Float Sounds Fun! And I can certainly relate on the need to say ‘no’ more, and in fact I have been!

We love LOVE geocaching. We take our kiddos at least once a week, we have found most of the ones by our house!

I have a lot of writing plans for this summer too – not sure I will be able to do it or not! I also want to spend a ton of time outside with my kids. It is beautiful in Maine in the summer, I need to soak it up!

The river float reminds me of my college days when would occasionally take day trips to go river float. It was so much fun. I don’t really know how I will spend my summer. It’s been so hot here, but I definitely want to relax and unwind.

Now that my kids are older and have summer jobs it is hard to plan any trips. I would love to go Geocaching. It would be a great way to spend the day.

A fun summer bucket list. We want to go hiking and canoeing as a family. I’m going to a yoga retreat and a fitness blogger retreat both in July. Those are the only definite plans so far.

It sounds like you have a great balance of wonderful things planned for the summer. I don’t have anything big planned, except to enjoy the warm weather and run a few races, which is pretty much my favorite thing to do.

I love how normal they all are! We often spend too much time on electronic and miss the important moments. I’ve never Geocatched before, I’m interested in it. Probably when my son comes home from his grandmas we can do it.

    I loved your geocaching post.
I do want to relax and unwind, and spend quality time with my family. I want to get to know our kitten and get regular exercise with my dog.
There are also big things I’m doing – like a blogging conference in NYC and a trip to Alaska. Yikes!

What a FUN summer you have planned – and I love all the natural ideas you have. Nothing too flashy or with technology. The reading and sitting in the garden is perfect. I also like walks – and want to do more in the nice weather!
