Is it just me, or does everyone feel like this last week just crawled by? Last week of school and to be honest it has been hard, dang hard. With late nights and even earlier mornings my coffee just hasn’t been strong enough but just like that the school year is done and we are officially on summer vacation! The kids can sleep in and I get a break from trying to figure out what we are going to pack in their school lunch. Plus, we get to try some of the new activities with Part 2 of our ” 15 things to do with your kids in the summer time ” blog series.
Did you try any of the activities from last week?
What was your family favourite?
Join us next Friday for Part 3 of our “15 things to do with your kids in the summer time”.
Are you looking for more great summer activities?
Check out my Pinterest board.
My boys are both teenagers, and I think I am totally going to throw them off guard by having a water fight.
These are really great suggestions!
Planting a garden is my FAVORITE thing to do with my kids in the summer! It is science and fun all in one!
This list is great! I need some motivation since its been so hot here (arizona).
I used to love doing all of these things as a kid and I hope that more kids get outside and have some fun this summer!
This is a great list of practical and fun summer activities.
I also appreciate the pinnable image.
Great list! In this heat, anything to do with water is in my top 5 🙂 Unfortunately, with the drought in CA we can’t do the sprinklers/slip n slide, so we have been hitting up the local splash pads!
DId ya’ll just finish school? My girl has been out for a month so we have done all of these, times 10. LOL.
It’s really hard to plan activities for the summer here in Arizona, since a lot of these activities involve being outside during the heat of the day. We like to go out early in the morning and late at night just to go outside, but don’t have a whole lot of time to make big plans. Great list–gotta pin this!
Yesss I love this list! We have some “flowers” (weeds) in our front yard that my son loves to pick! It keeps him occupied and it helps us weed our yard! 😉 😉
All lovely ideas! I’ll try these out with the kiddos I nanny.
Love the image and it’s a great list. I think all parents struggle with ways to fill the time.
I recently saw some posts already preparing for back to school. Not ready for that!!
I love your list – I especially like that every thing on that list is doable for me with the exception of rollerblading. OK, I know this list is for the kids, but I like to get out and have fine with them as well! I wrote a list on 12 Ways to Prevent Summer Slide at http://positivelystacey.com/2015/06/12-ways-to-prevent-summer-slide/ , but I like that your list is pure fun!. Playing is so important!!
Love this list of ideas! I am all about planting a garden because the little ones love checking it!
Here in Vegas, we try to run thru the sprinklers a lot! Anything with water involved is a good choice in fact!
Fun list!
We blow lots of bubbles around here. I love your list! So simple and fun!
Great list of things to do with the kids, thanks!
I am so ready to have a water fight. I need to get the water guns purchased and even the big (grown) kids will be all-in when they’re here for that one. 😉
This is such a great list! the best thing is that these things cost almost nothing adn can be done almost everywhere. Children and adults will both enjoy these things.
You have to keep the kiddos entertained and engaged. I would probably like the slip n slide best. I used to enjoy those when I was a kid.
So I do not have human kids but you inspired me: The kids up the street were using sidewalk chalk (which has come a long way) and I colored in the hopscotch game with them!
OH my, I haven’t hopscotched in a lot of years. I remember how much fun it was. I wish I had a girl so we could play hopscotch. I don’t think my boy would want to play it…You know it doesn’t include a ball LOL
I love this list! All these activities will truly connect you with your kids!
Great suggestions, many as classic outside fun. We have done a few of them already this summer.
Everything on this list is on my kids summer bucket list, especially have a water fight!! We plan on doing a family bike ride once a week.
Great list. Love the pinnable infograph!
I love these ideas! Anything with water is always a hit.
Those are all great things to do and so much fun. What an added bonus that they are all basically free. These are also things you can do over and over throughout the summer and they never get old.
Everything on this list makes me happy! I love this time of the year. So many memories to make!
Great list! we do all of these, having a water fight is my favorite!
Great ideas! My kids would love to have a water fight. Actually my husband would probably love that too, he is the biggest kid of all!
Since we live in Florida, summer is all about the pool and being in the air conditioning but other times of the year is when we do a lot of outside activities like some of the ones you mentioned. One of my kids favorite things to do was scavenger hunts and flying kites.
Ahhh fun summer. Blowing bubbles and water fights.
Oh how I love summer and I don’t care how old I (or my kids) get, blowing bubbles is always so much fun!
Thanks for the list. I see a few things on here that we are planning on doing. The kids are really looking forward to family bike rides.
My daughter’s favorite is blowing bubbles. My son loves to play tag and I like drawing with chalk. Great list. Two months to go. Lol.
I love the list. I’m so glad it’s summer. I like when the kids are out of school.
You know what I love about this list? They are all things to do OUTSIDE that don’t involve screens! Great list!
We drew with sidewalk chalk and blew bubbles. I might actually take this list and see if we can do them in a week.
We turned off all of the electronics and went outside and did crafts this week – it was SUPER fun. Made me realize I do not do stuff like that NEAR often enough.
These are all fun things to do with Kids for Summer. I like the idea of Bird-watching and Bike Ridning
Ooh paper airplanes! That would be a fun one. I haven’t done that in forever.
So many great ideas. Will be doing sprinkler, chalk, bubbles and tons more! So happy summer vacation is here finally!
I have so many good memories of the kids doing chalk drawings on the drive way. That’s a classic!
What a great list of things to do with the kids during the summer months. I’m happy to see some of our favorite things to do on the list: watching sunsets, bird watching, bike riding..
We will definitely be doing almost all the things on your summer fun list! We also spend ridiculous amounts of time at the beach. It’s my favorite place to be!
We always love having water fights. Water balloon are the best.
These are all great suggestions. I remember some very long summer days when my kids were little!
That is a fun list of ideas. We get a season parking pass for the beach, so we will be there all summer long 🙂
