I have a confession to make.
I’m the worst person for you to email.
Seriously.
The worst.
Yet I’m the first person to jot my name down and join that email list.
I have no issue giving my email address out to anyone.
I have yet to receive an email from “The children’s place” regarding a recent purchase so I’m not sure why they need my email address in the first place.
Don’t hate me.
I’m being honest with you.
My inbox gets checked in that space between “just want to hit snooze sleepy and haven’t had my first cup of coffee”.
you know what I’m talking about.
It’s where I make the majority of my decisions regarding if your email gets past “go” and will be getting a second look from me or not.
Most times it’s a massive pruning and in one quick swipe my inbox is empty and I’ve washed my hands for the entire mess.
One more item checked off on my “to do list” before I have even crawled out of bed for the day. Awesome!
Sometimes catchy email subject lines will encourage a second look.
Most of the time it won’t.
Sometimes it’s the “freebies” that will make me pause.
Or if it’s a message from a loved one.
Or if it’s from air miles because let’s be honest here …it’s nice to know how many miles we have accumulated.
As you know I’m as a busy mom to 4 so I will take any short cut I can get!
I’m a multitasking mom.
Usually we are pretty easy to spot.
We are the ones booking doctors appointments on our cell phone as we are waiting in the line up to order our overpriced coffee at the nearest drive thru.
Rolling over and with one eye half open I scrolled thru over 200 email messages.
sigh
Anyways,
This morning when I open up my inbox I am greeted with a cheerful message promising to tell me how I too can “Be a better multitask-er”.
Ah! One that looks interesting!
Stop and click that message.
As a side note we have had a few issues with our WiFi lately.
Web Pages have been sketchy loading so a small part of me expected that this could be the case as I waited for what felt like an eternity for the message to load.
I refreshed the page.
I wait for it to load. (Again)
And waited.
nothing!!
I can’t open the message..okay..try again..wait for it..wait for it..NOTHING!!
How am I supposed to be a better at multitasking if I can’t open the message..
How do I glean the wisdom from the article if I can’t find the article?!?
Honestly though..how many things should I be doing at one time?
Email has become more of a nuisance.
Bombarding and overwhelming.
Am I the only one that feels this way?
I have A love/hate relationship with my email inbox.
What about you?
How do you manage the constant influx of email?
We absolutely love your blog and find nearly all of your post’s to be exactly I’m looking for.
Do you offer guest writers to write content to suit your
needs? I wouldn’t mind writing a post or elaborating on most of the subjects you write in relation to here.
Again, awesome web site!
Admiring the hard work you put into your site and in depth information you present.
It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same unwanted rehashed information. Great read!
I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your RSS
feeds to my Google account.
I’ve been surfing on-line more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting
article like yours. It is lovely value enough for me.
In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the
net can be a lot more helpful than ever before.
I sent you a message…did you get it?
you’re not the only one… I don’t even want to look at my email right now!
My e-mail box is overflowing! I have way too many to keep track of and am always losing something in one of them.
I am so not the right person to ask this question, haha. I used to have one main email address which just resulted in thousands of unread emails. So, I split up the subjects to help with that. Now I just have several addresses, each with many unread emails. I recently started using Unroll.me though and it has actually helped clean up my inbox a lot!
I definitely have a similar relationship with my email. I love getting new opportunities in my inbox but hate wasting time sifting through all of the outright junk that I get daily. If you figure out how to manage it, let me know!
I am an email hoarder and hate deleting emails that are not spam. I probably check my email 100 times a day!
I am a piler. I have folders, but I’m afraid to move stuff into them because I’ll forget they are there. But then new email piles on, and I forget. yes, love/hate.
I don’t, wish I did but I don’t. I have a ton of subscriptions that come through and really need to organize it better.
I don’t have an orgainization. I am a deleting freak. If I hear the swoosh on my phone I check it if its worth looking at I do if not I delete!
I have different emails for personal use, shopping, blogging, etc. It makes it easier to manage things. Plus I don’t have to worry about missing out on important emails because my inbox is full of advertisements and spam.
My e-mail box is always bursting! But I do have it sorted and reply to blogging/personal e-mails as soon as I possibly can!
i’ve got about 10 email addresses. A couple for junk emails. One for just my personal friends and family. Another for business and the rest, I’m not sure about 🙂
I have good days and bad days of email.
I have email ADD, I’ll get a bunch of emails and read them and then I’ll forget to reply.
I have two email accounts and they get cluttered up with spam mail. UGH
I never seem to have enough time for email. I think I’ve responded when I definitely haven;t.
I manage 9 emails accounts, so I understand. Some are personal, some are business. I try to lump all the business ones into one account so its easier to shift through them all at once. Love Gmail for that!
I am like that with messages on my cell phone and answering machine. I never check them. I have had my iPhone for almost a year and I still do not know how to check my messages!
I totally feel you. I think that I must get about 20-30 emails an hour and most get deleted instantly.
I’m terrible when it comes to email mainly because I have so many email accounts.
YAY I am not alone. I have 9k unread but most are span, to lazy to delete.
I’m good with answering, horrible at deleting them and even worse at procrastinating at things I don’t want to deal with….
I hate my email. I check it all the time for anything urgent and then the things that I say I will check later gets lost under the new non urgent things
I get lots of emails so I totally empathize with you. It’s the main reason I try to unsubscribe to places I know I don’t need anymore. 🙂
I have multiple email addresses. Companies get my throw-away email address and once in awhile I do a mass purge. Even my regular inbox piles up though. It’s a never-ending battle to keep my inbox clean.
I can’t even begin to keep up with my email. I always try, but I get behind within a day. Most of it is never even read.
My email is insane. I think it is pretty much impossible to clean out my Yahoomail.
Same here… It’s never ending!
I LOVE when I get emails from real people. I do NOT LOVE when I get spammed by companies.
Email is exhausting and never ending — although I do think I would read the one you got about The Secret to Not Sucking!
I still have it if your interested…
Lol!
I can get pretty bad with my email too. It seems like it just piles up no matter what I do!
Mass purge I just make a fast sweep and check if something is needed if not delete!
I also am terrible with email. I have all these folders and filters to organize things, but then I never actually look in those folders. Getting hundreds of emails a day doesn’t help!
Try managing 5 different emails!! Oh, and get better Internet connection. Mine is terrible too! I am notorious of having that multitasking attitude. But then I have a hard time finishing something that I started! Good luck multitasking!
Very few people have my personal email, so I do check that one on a regular basis because it’s usually something important.
