I have a love/hate relationship

04/30/14 | live

I have a confession to make.

I’m the 20140430-101347.jpgworst person for you to email.
Seriously.
The worst.

Yet I’m the first person to jot my name down and join that email list.

I have no issue giving my email address out to anyone.

I have yet to receive an email from “The children’s place” regarding a recent purchase so I’m not sure why they need my email address in the first place.

Don’t hate me.

I’m being honest with you.

My inbox gets checked in that space between “just want to hit snooze sleepy and haven’t had my first cup of coffee”.
you know what I’m talking about.

It’s where I make the majority of my decisions regarding if your email gets past “go” and will be getting a second look from me or not.

Most times it’s a massive pruning and in one quick swipe my inbox is empty and I’ve washed my hands for the entire mess.

One more item checked off on my “to do list” before I have even crawled out of bed for the day. Awesome!

Sometimes catchy email subject lines will encourage a second look.

Most of the time it won’t.

Sometimes it’s the “freebies” that will make me pause.
Or if it’s a message from a loved one.
Or if it’s from air miles because let’s be honest here …it’s nice to know how many miles we have accumulated.

As you know I’m as a busy mom to 4 so I will take any short cut I can get!

I’m a multitasking mom.

Usually we are pretty easy to spot.
We are the ones booking doctors appointments on our cell phone as we are waiting in the line up to order our overpriced coffee at the nearest drive thru.
Rolling over and with one eye half open I scrolled thru over 200 email messages.
sigh
Anyways,
This morning when I open up my inbox I am greeted with a cheerful message promising to tell me how I too can “Be a better multitask-er”.

Ah! One that looks interesting!

Stop and click that message.

As a side note we have had a few issues with our WiFi lately.
Web Pages have been sketchy loading so a small part of me expected that this could be the case as I waited for what felt like an eternity for the message to load.

I refreshed the page.

I wait for it to load. (Again)

And waited.

nothing!!

I can’t open the message..okay..try again..wait for it..wait for it..NOTHING!!

How am I supposed to be a better at multitasking  if I can’t open the message..

How do I glean the wisdom from the article if I can’t find the article?!?

Honestly though..how many things should I be doing at one time?

Email has become more of a nuisance.
Bombarding and overwhelming.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

I have A love/hate relationship with my email inbox.

What about you?

How do you manage the constant influx of email?

We absolutely love your blog and find nearly all of your post’s to be exactly I’m looking for.
Do you offer guest writers to write content to suit your
needs? I wouldn’t mind writing a post or elaborating on most of the subjects you write in relation to here.
    Again, awesome web site!

Admiring the hard work you put into your site and in depth information you present.
It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same unwanted rehashed information. Great read!
I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your RSS
    feeds to my Google account.

I’ve been surfing on-line more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting
article like yours. It is lovely value enough for me.
In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the
net can be a lot more helpful than ever before.

I am so not the right person to ask this question, haha. I used to have one main email address which just resulted in thousands of unread emails. So, I split up the subjects to help with that. Now I just have several addresses, each with many unread emails. I recently started using Unroll.me though and it has actually helped clean up my inbox a lot!

I definitely have a similar relationship with my email. I love getting new opportunities in my inbox but hate wasting time sifting through all of the outright junk that I get daily. If you figure out how to manage it, let me know!

I am a piler. I have folders, but I’m afraid to move stuff into them because I’ll forget they are there. But then new email piles on, and I forget. yes, love/hate.

I have different emails for personal use, shopping, blogging, etc. It makes it easier to manage things. Plus I don’t have to worry about missing out on important emails because my inbox is full of advertisements and spam.

I manage 9 emails accounts, so I understand. Some are personal, some are business. I try to lump all the business ones into one account so its easier to shift through them all at once. Love Gmail for that!

I have multiple email addresses. Companies get my throw-away email address and once in awhile I do a mass purge. Even my regular inbox piles up though. It’s a never-ending battle to keep my inbox clean.
