Hey y’all- today I’m sharing my blogging goals to inspire someone somewhere to join me in this crazy adventure and to keep me accountable to someone other than myself.
One of my goals for the new year is to get organized ( I mean, let’s face it, who’s isn’t?) But this isn’t for my personal life (though I am sure it could use work too) it’s for my blog. I have come to a point in my life where it feels like I can’t remember anything. At least it seems that way. I will have this great idea that I want to write about or this recipe that I want to try but by the time I stop Jessica from dumping out the entire basket of laundry down the stairs, pick the kids up from school, clean up from some random mess and finally have time to do something, that great idea is long gone. Anyone besides me feel this way? This is the first year for blogging goals no resolutions here !
So how am I going to do that?
blogging goals:
Organize my thoughts with a Blog Planner
There are many blog planners to choose from. Simply do a search for them on Pinterest and you will find a ton of possibilities to fit your personal style. However, the one I have downloaded to use for the upcoming year is this free printable blog planner from the Harmonized House Project. I test printed a few sheets today and the colours are fabulous! It also has everything I was looking for in a blog planner, including social media tracking sheets, post planning sheets, areas to keep up with sponsors and giveaways, and so much more! This is definitely the most important of the must-have blogging goals I have set to stay organized.
Implement A Checklist
How many times do you write a blog post and then forget to share it on one of your social channels? There’s just so much to remember, especially if you are a one woman show. I found this free printable blogging checklist that will help me remember exactly where to share posts to get them out there into the world.
Blog Maintenance
Time to optimize my content for SEO which means there are 87454957487 old posts ( well, maybe not that many ) that I want to go back through and re-work to see if I can link past content to newer posts, fix broken/missing links and clean up my categories. I can’t remember the last time I did that….and to be honest with you it’s a mess! (this one will probably be the easiest of them all to achieve!)
So there you have it…those are my blogging goals for 2016. How do you create goals for yourself and stay motivated to meet them? I would love it if you would Share your thoughts with us below!
I hope these ideas will help you get excited about a fresh start to the blogging new year. Here’s to a successful and personally rewarding year of blogging!
I like the idea of finding one free! It’s nice to have a permanent place to record your to-do’s.
I need to do some photo organizing. Keep working on my old “awful” articles. And make some minor tweeks to color.
Those are great goals and very doable. Blogging can be overwhelming, but it’s one step at a time 🙂
I need to do a few of those things especially going back through old blog posts. I noticed that a few don’t link anymore but there is so much to do. Good luck with your goals.
I have so many goals for my blog in 2016! I need to go back through my old posts and clean up my categories too. It feels like a huge undertaking.
I like the blog checklist. I am going to download that for myself!
My blogging goal is to be more consistent with updating my blog with new content. I have so many drafts waiting to be finished and posted.
Sounds like you have a great plan in place! I need to work on my blog maintenance too, still trying to figure out the SEO myself!
Blog maintenance is high on my list of goals. I really need to go back and fix those old posts.
I love my blog planner! My goal is to move from part time to full time income and double my page views this year.
I have some of the same goals. I’ve been slowly going through my old posts. I want to make some of my older recipes again so I can take new photos too.
Yes I have set some goals for myself as well. So much to do…blogging is harder than people think.
These tips are amazing. For now, one of my goals is to just keep up! There is always so much that needs to be done that I need a check list for my check list. 😉 Thank you for sharing!
I so need to get my act together and set some goals and on paper! I’ve printed lists before, but what I really need to do is actually use them!
I don’t have any specific goals per se. I just like to go with the flow….it has worked well so far.
Ahh. I need to do all of these things for my blog too! It’s amazing how many to-dos there are for just maintenance and upkeep. Add in new posts, email responses, etc… It’s a lot to handle, but so awesome too. – Katy
