I’m not normally the most organized person in the world, I have to admit. My husband could tell you stories! Labeling my world isn’t the first thing I think of when I want an activity to fill an afternoon! But there is obsessive organizational labeling, and then there is having fun and making decorative DIY labels for your home, and that’s what we have for you in this post… DIY label project and free printable! This project and printable is cute, fun, decor and the printable is FREE!! So it’s time for those of us organizationally challenged individuals to embrace a little structure, and hey, these are fun, so we don’t even have to think of it as organizing! And for those of you who were blessed with more organizational ability?
Well, just enjoy creating for your space.
I really love… ‘The Perfect Wife’ has a decal transfer tutorial with free printables, but I don’t have, couldn’t find or even buy the decal paper for my printer.
You have got to be kidding me!! Look how adorable those are…
Noooo, to say that I was disappointed is an understatement! How am I supposed to make cute canister labels without decal paper?
So, I shelved the idea until I saw this video circulating on facebook….
I’m sure you have seen it too.
Could it be? Can I get my new labels without the decal paper?
I had to find out. I was a little skeptical at first because we all know you can’t trust everything you see on the internet but, I figured I could spare some tape and a couple of pieces of paper. If it didn’t work then it wouldn’t be a big deal but, it totally worked!!
I made this….
How I made these DIY Labels:
I printed off the labels on normal laser printer paper & covered them with tape as shown in the video above. I trimmed off all the extra and soaked them in a bowl of lukewarm water for 1 min. Once a minute was up I just rubbed the paper off. Actually rubbed is the wrong word here.. you could roll it off just like a sticker.
Once all the paper was off I applied the label to the containers. The entire process is quick and easy but, it’s a little messy and you need to make sure to line up your tape just right or you could end up with two pieces. Plus it’s a little messy. I only had enough tape to do 6 labels and I had to change out the water 3 times plus now my hands feel really dry.
Awesome eh!
Have you ever tried something you saw on the internet?
How did it turn out? I would love to hear about it in the comments below.
These are some awesome label ideas. i am always lookign for new and improved ways to get organized.
What?!!! That’s so awesome! I can’t believe the tape stays sticky enough to stick to the jar. I love this idea and will be trying it too.
Oh, I’ve been wanting to try this method since I saw it in-line, but was also skeptical! so happy to hear it actually works! Thanks so much for the tips… can’t wait to try it myself!
Super cute labels! I tried to make ice cream cookie sandwiches like I saw in a book. They did NOT look the same when I made them, and they melted faster than I thought possible! 🙂
Ahhh! These are the BEST! I would decorate my whole kitchen with these labels. I love it! I have no fancy label machine – I can do this!
It’s so cool that you found an alternative way to do this. I want to make some like that. My kitchen would be much more organized.
What a great idea! I’m definitely trying this method since I don’t have a labeler. I bet my husband could tell your husband some organizing stories about me. I’m not organized at all.
Dang. Didn’t think an alternative would be so easy. I love how it looks
The decals look great. So often I see an idea that I really like online and I don’t follow through. This project looks like a great one to try out.
I love these but am not a fancy machine person! I am definitely going to try this now. Yours came out so cute!
I, like you, am not a huge fan of labeling everything in the house, but that being said, I do love being organized. There’s something about having everything in order and accessible. I do love these decals and they came out looking great! I love it when a DIY project really shines!
I have been wanting to do this for a long time. this looks great, good job
Wow, I never thought that I can do it! I will try this when I get home, sounds fun to do!
I am so unorganized. too many excuses why I don’t have things done. thanks for making it simple
I love these! And they look so easy to do! It’s so chic but still organized!
Wow! Genius! I love labeling everything. These DIY labels sound so easy and they look adorable. Perfect for my new kitchen. Must try! Thanks for sharing these. 🙂
I think your decals turned out cute! I have some waterside paper that I’ve been saving for a similar project. I love how unique typography looks on jars, canisters, etc.,
Ok I absolutely love this. I am not so organized when it comes to my cabinets but I think we need this in our home!
I saw that label video on Facebook as well! I think they turned out darling!
This is awesome! I love putting labels on things, and this is such a great trick!
Yes I needed this post. I do not have the machines to be all fancy but I can definitely do this!
