Yes, it is back to school time but is also time to get back to YOU!
Back to school means a lot of different things to many of us. So you are either on one side or the other! Absolutely thrilled that the kids are going back to school so you can get back to a normal (still crazy busy) schedule, Or you are kicking and screaming that summer vacation is coming to an end.
As a busy mom, I have moments of feeling both sides. The summer has been mostly care-free full of sun, camps for the kids, late nights, and treats!!
For me – this year- it’s the start of Grade 6 for my son, Grade 5 for my daughter, Grade 1 for my youngest daughter, piano lessons, gymnastics, swim lessons, Bible study, and more.
There are so many areas in life that I could come up with excuses as to why I don’t have time to exercise or eat healthy.
They are all legitimate excuses too…
*Sleep doesn’t come easy when your tossing and turning all night while the rain pelting our bedroom window and the wind howling.
*My kids are starting a new school with a new bus schedule, new friends and somedays the kids just aren’t doing as well as I had hoped they would with the upcoming changes.
*Having the kid’s home all summer has really thrown my schedule off.
*I don’t have time to eat healthy
*I don’t have money to eat healthy
*I’m tired
*My husband is tired…
And the list goes on and on and on…
But here’s the deal – those are all just EXCUSES. And I’ve learned through round 1 on the 21 Day Fix Extreme that I can have EXCUSES or RESULTS – but not both!
I’m already anticipating busy weeknights with homework, after school practices, early weekend games and it’s super easy to start thinking there’s no way I’m going to be able to squeeze in some “ME” time – Even the busiest of moms should find time for themselves for at least 30 minutes a day and if you don’t already do this then this is something I challenge you to try!
It’s your time to get back to YOU!!
You work hard and deserve it.
We are just about to start Round #2 of the 21 Day Fix Extreme and if you remember from last time one of my “mistakes” was not being prepared! Not this round!
Today I wanted to share with you this delicious and simple smoothie recipe which might be the easiest and quickest yet. Perfect for after my workout!
Blend ingredients together until smooth. You’ll know when it is well blended when the strawberry seeds are all blended. (Because nobody likes strawberry seeds in their smoothie!)
That is all there is to this tasty strawberry blueberry banana smoothie! Just pour and enjoy!

- 1/2 Cup Frozen or Fresh Strawberries
- 1/4 of a medium Fresh Banana
- 1/4 Cup Frozen or Fresh Blueberries
- 1 Cup Almond milk
- 1 Cup Ice
- 1 scoop Vanila Shakeology
- 1 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
- Place almond milk, Shakeology, banana, blueberries, strawberries, and ice in blender; cover. Blend until smooth.
- 21 Day Fix: 1/2 Yellow, 1 purple, 1 red
I’m so excited to be starting Round #2 and can not wait to share my journey to health with you!
these are some great back to school idea. We are starting back in 3 weeks so these are really helpful.
My excuses happen way too often! I am working at getting in shape and eating right. That shake looks yummy!
You’re right that excuses are just that – excuses!!! I love the idea of thinking of back to school time as back to YOU time! <3
That smoothie sounds delish! Pls I’m always looking for ways to make evenings less stressful.
I definitely make excuses. That needs to change. This smoothie sounds delicious and I just might try it!
I definitely find myself making many of these excuses. It has been very tough being back to work this year for some reason. I am just so tired and I really need to organize my time better. The smoothie looks good
while summer was difficult I did make some time for myself. I will say kids in school makes it easier to get stuff done. morning workouts are easier to cross off the list.
I am guilty of the excuses. SOOOOO guilty. But you are right. Taking care of my health has to get on the list. Planning for it would definitely help me do better.
🙂

I definitely need to work on going bed earlier. The twins are moving to a new middle school and they have to be at school by 7:15 a.m. each morning. I am looking to having some me time in the mornings!
ughhh I need to get better about sleep! my daughter starts school in just one week and sleep is always the hard part
Sounds like a busy time of year!! My little ones are still too young for school, so end of summer makes no difference to me (yet) 🙂 Smoothie sounds delicious!
Our nest has been empty for a few years but I still look at September as a time to get back into a routine and take care of myself. I’m going to have to look into that program and try that shake. It sounds delicious!
Getting a good night sleep is my problem especially now that the kids are back to school. I don’t fall asleep easy so I only get a gew hours of sleep every night. A friend of mine uses shakeology to stay fit.
I love my kids, but I think I’m super excited for them to get their butts back into school, woohoo! My schedule has been completely off this summer, I’m hoping next summer will run more smoothly because I had too much going on this summer… anyways, school is just around the corner and I’ll not have to worry about what to do to get the kids out and having fun EVERY SINGLE DAY! ME time here I come : )
We are going to have to start preparing for the adjustment of going back to school next week. It’s such a busy time of the year for parents and kids alike.
My SIL did the 21 day fix, it’s all about exercise and portion control. But it totally works, if you ate committed. I love my snacks too much! ?
So glad you’ve found a fabulous program that really works for you! I’m trying to be better about respecting MY bedtime and not just the kiddos!
That smoothie looks amazing! And it’s even better that it doesn’t take long at all to make either!
Preparation is the key to success in any adventure! Good luck on your 21 day fix extreme! It sure taught me portion control!
This is one of my favorite times of the year, when school is fresh and exciting and kids are willing to try!
I just forgot my vitamins and I want to get back on the smoothie bandwagon. Thanks for sharing this recipe I’m definitely going to give it a try.
I try to have a green smoothie every morning, though sometimes I’m in the mood for something different. I don’t have kids I’m fortunate not to have to worry about back to school. Though I do remember how crazy my schedule used to be back in my school days.
omg can we say yum?!?! I must try your smoothie recipe. it sounds absolutely delicious
Good luck with round 2! I sometimes fail at what I’m trying to do because I don’t prepare. I need to get back to drinking smoothies every day. They were super healthy and very filling.
Wow, delicious and just what I always need for my morning rituals. That quote can never ring truer though, even geniuses have to partake into something new before they can accomplish something.
I love that we are almost back to school. I love the structure of the days, the sports practices and the all the games. It also helps me get in my workouts while at sports practices!
This sounds like a great smoothie to start the day. I have to admit that I love the idea of choosing between results and excuses but not having both. This saying in itself is motivation. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Glad to see you are not giving up and there is a round two of the 21 days fix extreme.
It is crazy to think it is back to school time already. My kids are excited for the new school year and the new adventure.
Wishing you all the best in your journey. In the process of taking care of our family’s health, we tend to forget that we too, need healthier meal choices. Thanks for sharing the smoothie recipe. It looks not only delicious but packed with health benefits too.
I’m so excited about your Strawberry Blueberry Banana Shakeology Smoothie recipe. I can’t wait to try it. I feel like I’m walking backwards, lol, since the kids started back school. I can’t seem to get motivated.
Smoothies are always such a quick, easy, and healthy way to eat! I often make a green smoothie in the morning, loaded with spinach, kale, avocado, protein powder, and spices like cinnamon and turmeric. It keeps me going throughout the morning!
That smoothie sounds delish! Always looking for ways to make evenings less stressful. I already drive about 50 mins to and from work. So, the less I have to do, the better!
The smoothie sounds delicious. I have to admit that I am really good at excuses for all of those things I would like to do but I don’t.
I can’t believe school is starting so soon. This smoothie recipe sounds so delicious. I can’t wait to try this this weekend!
Planning ahead will make it all go smoothly, you’re so right. Good luck in round 2, and I love this recipe!
My grandson starts kindergarten this year. It will be a change for him. Although he is used to day care, I’m sure there will be an adjustment period…for mom and dad too.
I hear great things about Shakeology. This recipe sounds so good to me. I love working out, but eating healthy is not always an easy task!
I always consider back to school like my New Years! It’s a chance to start everything new again! Good luck with round 2!
I agree completely! The smoothie sounds great and it feels good to take care of yourself.
I have heard great things about Shakeology. I love having a good smoothie for breakfast in the morning.
Yummmyyyyyyy!!! Looks so good and healthy – can’t wait to try it out!
the journey to a happy healthier you is so much easier when you are not on the fly or with kids. It gets tough.. My days seem to get sucked away. Good luck on your journey. Bulk is great.. you will love it.
I always hate to see summer come to an end. We’ve got one more week at the beach during the week of Labor Day, so I’m looking forward to that. I’ve been having smoothies every morning for breakfast, so I’ll have to add your recipe to my repertoire.
I can’t believe Summer is almost over, I have no kids so back to school won’t apply to me, but this season does bring on changes. Appreciate that you wrote this, sounds like some great ideas I can put to work even without having “back to school” apply to my household.
That smoothie sounds great, I will have to try it soon! You will do great on your journey to be a healthier you!
I don’t want summer to end. Thankfully, we aren’t starting our school routine until after Labor Day. … I love this smoothie recipe, btw!
I’m dressing back to school because it means no spare time. cooking healthy meals is a process – while the kids eat well I’m usually grabbing whatever is quick in a car. back to school can be back to chaos
I totally agree! We are also looking into bulk cooking to make those crazier nights less crazy. (If that’s even possible!)
