Furniture comes in a wide array of types and design. The most popular ones are the fabric and leather material furniture. The two make shopping for sofas such a hard thing to do. While others prefer fabric, others will choose leather sofas. It all depends on your preference; however, here are some reasons you may want to stick to leather furniture from a store like West Coast Living Thomasville.
1. Lifespan
You can’t deny that leather furniture is built to withstand abuse and last longer. Compared to fabric sofas, leather types live incredibly a longer life of above ten years, depending on the kind of leather used to make it. Many leather sofas may come so firm when still new, and you might not like the idea, however, as years go by, they will get soft. The lifespan of leather furniture means you won’t have to worry about replacing them after a while like fabric sofas.
2. Ease of Cleaning
Furniture attracts dust over time, not to mention how quickly they can be stained by spills and become dirty. If you have fabric furniture, you know that doing a thorough cleaning of them is not an easy task. You often end up hiring the services of a professional. Leather seats, on the other hand, are easy to clean by applying a cleaning agent on the stained or dirty parts, and simply wiping it off. They are also dirt and stain resistant. It is even easier to clean leather furniture if you regularly keep it well maintained.
3. Timeless Appeal
Centuries ago, animal skin was used to make beds and even seats. Since then, the skin has and is still evolving. Some of the best-selling product in fashion are skin products. The furniture industry is no exception. Leather furniture sells the most and is preferred by many. The reason, apart from durability, is the appeal they create. Leather furniture will never go out of style.
4. It Is Worth It
You may not like the idea that genuine leather furniture is expensive or tends to get sticky in summer. Those are tradeoffs if you consider the investment. The initial cost is high, but in the long run, you will realize that buying them was the best choice you ever made. Some of them have the best warranties for their stitching, the frame, webbing, cover and everything else. There’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t consider them.
5. Appearance
The appearance leather furniture creates in your living room is hard to duplicate in fabric sofas. They come with natural markings, and when dyed, the color is absorbed into the leather, giving it a vibrant hue that will take ages to fade. This feat makes them easy to work with in interior design and home decor.
On top of it all, leather upholstery is the best for health purposes. They are hypoallergenic, which makes it safe for people with dust and other particle allergies. If you have children, leather furniture is also the best, regarding cleaning and resisting scratches.
We are hoping to upgrade our basement in the next few months. I have already told my husband we have to get a leather couch rather than the fabric. They last longer and look way better in my opinion. Thank you for sharing your reasons as well!
I couldn’t agree with you more that leather furniture is the way to go. We used to have a leather couch, and it was the best. It was super easy to clean and maintain, and it looked great. The only complaint I have about leather is how cold it gets during cold weather. Lol!
Girl, I have six boys at home. I have leather in my car and leather in my living room. Kids get sick, spill things, etc I have always said leather is a must for moms. It just cleans up so easily!
I agree. I had always had fabric upholstered furniture because it costs less up front but have wanted leather. My husband finally got the leather recliner that he had been asking for just this past summer and we love it. It was actually secondhand and quite a few years old but in great shape still. Meanwhile our other furniture is not only worn out but such a pain to keep clean. Especially with kids and a big dog. Next time we replace our furniture it will most definitely be with leather
I totally agree with these points. We bought our leather sofa years ago and it still looks amazing even with two kids! I love leather furniture!
I’ve always wanted leather furniture and now I’m convinced that this is what I need to get when I replace a few pieces in our living room. Thanks for sharing this info. 🙂
We have two cats and their fur is a royal pain to get off of our fabric furniture. I guess you can make that reason #6 to invest in leather furniture, lol!
