10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self

04/04/13 | live

List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self.

1. PAY attention in school!  I know it’s boring, and that boy in third row is kinda cute but trust me, he will always be a jerk!  Your mid thirties will cause you to question if the career choice you made was a good one (it sort of was)  and when you start looking into going back to school those transcripts you have tucked away out of prying eyes are going to make you to want to crawl under a rock and never come out.  What were you thinking?!? Oh wait, we weren’t, we flunked out of math but had great nails.

2. Get that cigarette away from your face!
Besides smelling like an ashtray (gross) you’re working towards wrinkles Plus with the money you spend you could have travelled Europe for over a month.

3. Pick and choose your friends wisely…only a handful of them actually will be involved in your life and it’s not the number of friends you have but the quality of friends you have.  All those snobby girls in high school will always be like that.

4. Be yourself.  Your pretty great but you just don’t realize it yet.  You don’t have to try to re-invent yourself over and over again that will just confuse you.

5. Ask for help when your learning to put on make up.  You shouldn’t have a line “masking” your face, and yes, everyone can see it.

6. Wear sunscreen, it might feel greasy and gross but skin cancer is worse and stay away from the tanning beds & “tanning at home” creams and lotions.  Orange skin is not attractive unless your a carrot.

7. Enjoy the moment…as you are in the moment.

8. Spend time with your grandparents..when they are gone you will wish you had just one more day to hear them laugh and feel their arms around you when they hug you.

9. Stop pretending you like listening to that garbage music and listen to what really makes you feel good!  Who cares what everyone else thinks…

10. Listen to your mother!
